How long does trade secret protection last?
It lasts as long as you keep it secret. If you’re telling people your customer list, you can’t complain, “Hey, he took my customer list.” You must work and endeavor to keep your secret secret, have a process and a system in your business and accountability, employee agreements, checkout agreements when people leave your employee, make them recognize that, hey, they’re supposed to keep these things secret. If you do that, then it can last forever.
